FRENCH SACKS + GERMAN ENGINEERING = JEANS
The word "denim" comes from the French, "serge de Nimes" - the name given in the 16th century to the tough fabric produced in the city of Nimes. In the 1850s, the famous Gold Rush era, a German immigrant, Levis Strauss hit on the idea of producing hard-wearing work clothes. Nimes is just one of the many beautiful villages in Provence that can be visited on a river cruise (a smaller version of the Roman Colosseum was built during the roman occupation).
